Mooserboden high mountain reservoirs

Both reservoirs in Kaprun came about during the post-war era and are regarded today still as wonders of technology. Up above 2000m altitude, plenty of electricity is still being produced. Packed to the brim with melt water, the two lakes, which look a lot like fjords, conceal their turbines behind impressive reservoir walls and they really get up to speed in the spring time. During the summer months this technological realm can be visited daily.

Energy that comes from the mountains.

Nestling between the peaks of the three-thousand metre mountains in the Alps, at the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, this legendary place came about duirng the post-war era and this feeling is still palpable today. The adventure-packed electricity world presents the history and the challenges of the construction and also reveals the variety in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Then there is the stunning technical performamce that has been achieved right here in the middle of the Alps.

The power of the water and the possibilities of creating electricity from water power are revealed. Fror families in particular there are 'experience' stations on the "Strom Trail" that help explain the topics of water power and energy production. VERBUND opens its doors and provides an insight during guided tours of the reservoir into the inside of the Moosersperre and about modern electricty production. Visit Kaprun high Alpine reservoirs and experience the blend of nature and technology!
