The city of SalzburgSightseeing in the city of Salzburg
In Mozart’s footsteps
Only about an hour's drive (90 km) from Barbarahof, you will reach the world-famous festival city of Salzburg with its cultural attractions. Salzburg can look back on a long, eventful and magnificent history. Built on the Celtic and Roman ruins of Iuvavum, it was mainly trade with the eponymous salt ("Hall") that gave Salzburg a boost in wealth. As their city of residence, Salzburg was sumptuously restored by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich and his successors.
Visit to the world-famous festival city
Especially the old town with the lovely Getreidegasse, Mozart's birthplace and the castles Hellbrunn or Leopoldskron are evidence of the long cultural tradition to this very day. Salzburg exudes a special atmosphere in every way, whether culturally, with the world-famous Salzburg Festival, the many museums and also with the special offer of posh boutiques, small outdoor cafes and luxurious and international restaurants. Salzburg is definitely worth a day trip.
